About Us

We're all about creating unforgettable experiences on the trail. Our vision? A racing community where everyone, regardless of their skill level, can find joy, challenge, and camaraderie. Whether you're here to crush your personal best or to enjoy a day on the trail with friends old and new, our goal is to ensure every participant leaves with a smile on their face.

Expect more than just a race. At every AO event, you’ll find a festive atmosphere with an abundance of snacks, refreshments, and friendly faces. Understanding that speed is but one aspect of the race, we extend our high-quality prizing beyond the podium to not only celebrate the fastest runners but also our mid-pack heroes and swift over-50 competitors.

By often selecting courses on lesser-known trails, we aim to share the hidden gems of our landscapes. More than runners, we see ourselves as stewards of these beautiful spaces. Through trail donations, hands-on maintenance, and cleanup efforts, we give back to the trails that give us so much.

  • Peter Smith

Peter’s running journey has spanned nearly a decade. For the past five years, his passion shifted from the pavement to trail running, embracing everything from chasing Strava segments to linking up trails creating epic adventures with friends.

When Peter moved to Halifax, the Dartmouth Runners Association became his gateway to community and connection. Through shared miles, Peter went from a newcomer to a familiar face. The warm welcome led him to the idea of creating his own running club. The Halifax Hares is a tight-knit community of trail enthusiasts that brings Peter a lot of pride and joy.

When Jason floated the idea of hosting trail races, it clicked as the perfect stride forward. It was an opportunity to get more folks to join, nurture the sport's growth, and showcase Nova Scotia's breathtaking trails. Trail running transformed Peter's life, boosting his fitness and mental wellness. Through the twists, turns, and terrains, Peter's journey is all about connecting people with the trails and each other, one run at a time.
